Same-day crowns can help restore your smile right away!

With an array of advanced dental materials and technology, modern restorations are often crafted to address a specific area of your tooth while leaving the rest of the tooth relatively untouched.

Sometimes, however, the best approach is to completely shield the tooth so that it can remain in place without suffering further damage to its structure. Dental crowns may be one of the oldest forms of restorative dentistry, but today’s versions are also among the most highly customizable options.

Today, dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials to suit every patient’s unique needs and preferences. In some cases, Dr. Jessica Lawson can even craft a custom, same-day dental crown in just a single appointment using PlanScan E4D technology!

Every detail matters. If you have questions, we’ll help you find clarity.

INLAYS & ONLAYS —

A Conservative Approach

When correcting damage to your smile, we strive to retain as much of each natural tooth as we can.

We achieve that by using white inlays or onlays that provide a seamless look while reinforcing the chewing surface and cusps of a tooth. With these types of restorations, the structure of the original tooth crown is preserved, resulting in a tooth that’s stronger, more resistant to decay, and better at helping you avoid further dental work like root canals.

The Convenience of Digital Dentistry

Digital dentistry, using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing, or CAD/CAM, allows Dr. Lawson to create same-day porcelain dental crowns and other lifelike restorations (using E4D technology). Even traditional cosmetic and reconstructive restorations can be more precisely crafted using digital imaging and measuring.

For integrated dental services, digital technology isn’t focused on making things easier, but rather on making your diagnostic exams and dental procedures as comfortable and efficient as possible.

The benefits of digital dentistry include:

Safer treatment (i.e., less radiation from digital X-rays)

Strong, lifelike restorations, including veneers and crowns

Single-visit procedures

Often no need for temporary restorations

The Benefits of Same-Day Crowns

Dental crowns are meant to restore function, but they also affect the esthetics of your smile. That’s why Dr. Lawson utilizes the most lifelike materials, such as porcelain, zirconia, and E-Max. They reflect light in the same way as healthy, natural tooth enamel and can be matched to the shade of your teeth.

Through the innovative Planscan system, Dr. Lawson creates customized, lifelike dental crowns in a single visit using precise digital measurements and an on-site milling machine.

With the ability to receive your restoration in just a single appointment, same-day dental crowns offer a number of benefits, including:
  • Fewer visit to our office, which means less time off from work/school.
  • No need to wear a temporary crown while waiting for your permanent one.
  • Lifelike results thanks to the adaptable, realistic appearance of dental porcelain.
  • A high-tech solution that doesn’t use uncomfortable dental molds.
  • A healthier and more confident smile in significantly less time.
  • A more youthful smile that’s less prone to tooth damage from metal fillings.

Dental crowns are most often used to revitalize and rejuvenate smiles that have damaged or significantly decayed teeth. In some cases, a custom dental crown can also be coupled with a dental implant post to replace a lost or extracted tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Same Day Crowns

2-2.5 hours. We maximize your time by doing any other services at the same time including: your hygiene visit, tooth whitening, or other restorative needs while waiting the last hour for the crown to mail, 3-D print or cool in our special porcelain oven

Most of our patients prefer to take 1/2 day of PTO, and to avoid the sensitivity of a temporary crown by completing the work in one day

When the tooth is at risk for a fracture or more than one cusp is missing. We always try our best to design an onlay and leave any healthy cusps behind

Yes… in fact, by doing a conservative crown or onlay and leaving more than one cusp behind, you decrease your risk of needing a future root canal by maximizing the amount of enamel left.

The first half an hour of the appointment is really all that the doctor is in the mouth until it is time to cement the crown or on the. The middle portion of the appointment is digital scanning, designing and waiting for the 3-D printer or mail to mail the shape of the crown out of a block of ceramic. And then waiting for the pretty tooth color to be applied and cool.

Not in Dr. Lawson‘s office! She is excellent at administering pain-free anesthetic and the noisy portion of the appointment with vibrations usually only lasts about 10 minutes.

Recapture the magic in your smile.

A full smile opens the door to a fuller life.
