Offering Invisible Braces With ClearCorrect™

Did you know that you could obtain a straighter smile without wearing metal braces? In lieu of traditional orthodontics, we offer our Urbandale, IA, residents a solution to misalignment that is practically invisible. In today’s blog, let’s look at the benefits of ClearCorrect™ invisible braces, and what our patients should expect from this unique and barely noticeable orthodontic treatment.

How Does ClearCorrect™ Work?

Metal braces correct uneven smile with tension. We place brackets onto the front facing sides of the teeth, connecting them with an arch wire, then adjust the tension in the wire to move the teeth and correct misalignment. However, few people are excited about wearing metal orthodontics, especially teen and adult patients.

Instead, we take detailed digital impressions of your smile, which we use to create a series of custom-made aligners. Patients wear the aligners, which then gradually correct the smile. However, since the aligners are made from a clear plastic, they are practically invisible when worn!

How Often Do I Wear Them?

The exact amount of time you will need to wear them daily depends on a number of different factors, but on average, patients should wear them for between 20 and 22 hours. After about two weeks of wearing them daily for his amount of time, you upgrade to the next set as your teeth continue to move into optimal positions. The total time required to see optimal results is typically a year for adults and up to 18 months for teens, but again, this will vary depending on the cause and extent of your misalignment. While they can be removed before meals or special occasions, be sure you continue to wear them each day for the amount of your time your dentist prescribes!

MTM® Clear Aligners

We typically use ClearCorrect™ for more substantial cases of misalignment. But what if you have minor alignment issues? For some, we may suggest Minor Tooth Movement aligners (MTM®). The system again uses custom-made aligners to improve your smile, however total treatment takes as little as three to six months. Whether you have serious misalignment or a more minor case, we have a practically invisible solution to offer. Don’t assume that metal orthodontics are your only option, talk to our team today. We’re here to answer any questions or concerns you may have, and can offer a comprehensive exam to see which option will best correct your smile.
