What Benefits Does ClearCorrect™ Offer Our Patients?

If you have crooked or crowded smile, you may feel self-conscious about smiling or laughing in public. In addition, the overall health of your smile could suffer. In order to offer Urbandale, IA, patients treatment for uneven smiles without relying on metal orthodontics, we now provide ClearCorrect™. What benefits will ClearCorrect™ offer our patients?

The Importance of Correcting Misalignment

First, let’s talk about why we correct misalignment. The issue is not just a cosmetic one. Without care, an uneven smile could lead to a greater risk of tooth decay and gum disease, as proper brushing and flossing may be difficult. Not to mention the pressure misalignment places on the jaw joints may boost the chances of TMJ disorder and even bruxism (teeth grinding) forming. When we straighten our smiles, we also improve overall oral health.

How Does ClearCorrect™ Work?

We don’t place metal brackets or wires. Instead, we use digital impressions of your smile to create a series of aligners. Made from a clear and comfortable plastic material, you wear a set of aligners for between 20 and 22 hours daily. Approximately every two weeks, patients then upgrade to the next set. Total treatment time varies, but adults usually see optimal results in about a year. An even smile using orthodontics that are practically invisible? We can offer just that to our patients!

Can I Remove Them?

Yes! As long as our patients wear them for the amount of time we recommend each day, they can remove them prior to meals. No need to avoid certain foods as they would need to do with braces, instead they can continue to enjoy their favorites. Patients also remove them before brushing and flossing, which helps improve oral health. Finally, you can often take them out before special occasions, such as graduations!
