Every February, dental professionals around the country celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month. We take this opportunity to help educate kids in our community about the steps necessary to enjoy good oral health. We also enjoy taking part in Give Kids A Smile Day, which allows us to provide free care to kids in need!
Educating Children on Dental Care
For National Children’s Dental Heath Month, we visited with a preschool and also with the Kindergartener’s at St. Francis to talk about dentistry. Dr. Lawson answered questions and discussed ways they can help keep their smiles strong and healthy. We always look forward to these events, as they are a great opportunity to help kids take better care of their smiles!
Give Kids A Smile
Each year, thousands of dental professionals take part in Give Kids A Smile Day. During this event, we offer free care to children ages 12 and under for one day. These children may not usually have access to dental treatment, or they be on Medicaid. We provide a checkup and cleaning, including x-rays, as well as preventive solutions, such as dental sealants and fluoride treatments. We also discuss proper brushing and flossing and other tips, such as healthier snacking, to help children avoid tooth decay and enjoy better oral health.
