These days, conventional orthodontic braces are becoming less obligatory for patients who want straighter smiles, but don’t want to commit to conspicuous, uncomfortable metal brackets and wires on their teeth. For instance, clear aligners are fast becoming a preferable alternative that achieves the same straighter, more appealing results in a more discreet and comfortable fashion. If your tooth misalignment, or malocclusion, issues are merely cosmetic, than we may recommend our new MTM® clear aligners, which are invisible, removable, and only need to be worn for approximately six months!
How MTM® Clear Aligners Work
MTM®, which stands for Minor Tooth Movement, consists of a series of clear, acrylic aligners that are custom-designed to guide your teeth into more functional and symmetrical positions. Unlike braces, including other clear-braces systems, MTM aligners focus on the cosmetic aspects of your smile, rather than complete bite realignment. As such, the treatment is shorter, and the costs are significantly more affordable.
Who Benefits from MTM Clear Aligners
Malocclusion occurs in various forms, and to varying degrees, and its effects on your smile’s appearance may be different than others’. Patients who benefit most from MTM clear aligners are those whose teeth;
- Have spacing and crowding problems (too much or too little space between them)
- Have an off-center midline, meaning the lines between the two upper and two lower front teeth don’t line up
- Are slightly tipped inward or outward
- Have rotated and no longer face the right direction
For More Serious Malocclusion
If your malocclusion began in childhood, but wasn’t properly addressed, or if you wore braces as a kid and your teeth have relapsed, then you may require a more involved solution than cosmetic teeth-straightening. Fortunately, you can still benefit from the discretion and convenience of clear aligners with our ClearCorrect® system. Like MTM, ClearCorrect consists of aligners instead of brackets and wires, but are designed to provide more extensive tooth movement, and must be worn for at least 18 months to achieve optimal results.
